What is the story of Amber?
Founded in 1999 by Romyda Keth in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Ambre offers ready-to-wear and tailor-made clothing combining sophistication and comfort, designed to enhance women and men in all circumstances.

Who is Romyda Keth?
Romyda Keth is a visionary fashion designer who has combined international influences with Cambodian heritage to create an iconic brand. Born in Phnom Penh in 1966, she left Cambodia with her family at the age of five, following her diplomat parents to Prague and then to Paris in 1973.
Passionate about art and design, she joined the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris before continuing her training at the Esmod School of Fashion Design . Her talent was quickly spotted by the American brand Macy’s , which offered her a position as a designer before she had even finished her studies. After several years working in the Parisian fashion world, she opened a boutique in the 6th arrondissement and introduced her creations to a refined clientele.
In 1994, Romyda Keth decided to return to Cambodia with her family, in a country rebuilding after decades of conflict. Despite the challenges, she set up a first workshop with only three tailors and began to explore the riches of local craftsmanship: Khmer silk, organza, and traditional embellishment techniques such as embroidery. Her passion for fashion and her commitment to Khmer know-how laid the foundations of the Ambre brand .

The story of Amber
It was in 1999 that Romyda Keth opened the first Ambre boutique in a majestic colonial house in the heart of Phnom Penh. This place quickly became a reference for a local and expatriate clientele looking for elegant and unique pieces.
True to its ambition to create timeless fashion, Romyda develops a strong identity: feminine silhouettes, precise cuts that hug the shapes, noble fabrics and unique color harmonies. Each garment is designed to enhance women in all circumstances, combining sophistication and comfort.
Faced with the growing success of Ambre , she quickly opened two other boutiques, one at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal and the other at the Grand Hôtel d'Angkor , giving her collections increased visibility among an international clientele. In 2000, she launched a line of pure silk wedding dresses, thus consolidating her reputation in the world of luxury and tailor-made elegance.
Today, Ambre is an essential and iconic brand of Cambodian fashion, and is already present in Japan, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
More than just a fashion house, it embodies an art of living where refinement and femininity are combined with a deep respect for Cambodia's textile traditions. With her expertise and avant-garde eye, Romyda Keth continues to enhance fashion by creating pieces that celebrate elegance and self-confidence.
Currently, in addition to managing Maison Ambre, Romyda is the artistic director and designer of Ambre's women's and children's collections, while Thomas Jaffre is the artistic director and designer of Ambre's men's collections.
